Teen profiles start private and stay off search and leaderboards. We do not wait for a parent to flip a switch.
Built for parents. Enforced by default.
FCE One is for people 13 and older. Teen accounts start private. Nobody under 18 is advertised to. A suspected under-13 account is frozen on shopping and social at the same time — automatically, before a human looks at it.
How we protect young people.
13+ to join
Signup requires a date of birth. Under-13 accounts are rejected. Once stored, the date cannot be self-edited.
Teen privacy defaults
Ages 13–17 start private, non-searchable, and off leaderboards. That is the default, not an opt-out.
No ads under 18
Personalized and sponsored Network ads are not shown to anyone we know is under 18. It is not a preference.
Limited teen DMs
Teens can only be messaged by people they have already accepted as a connection. Anyone can block and report.
AI plus human review
Sexual content involving minors and similar terms are blocked at publish time. High-risk posts are held for staff.
Guardian channel
Report a concern without an account. You get a case number and a one-hour first-response commitment.
We do not ask a 14-year-old to find a setting. The protections below are defaults, not preferences — and they are enforced on the server, not only in the app.
A suspected under-13 account is hidden on Network and frozen on the marketplace at the same time — before any reviewer opens the case.
A parent or guardian can file a concern, get a case number, and reply in the same thread — even if they have never used FCE One.
1. Age floor
FCE One accounts require the person to be at least 13. This is checked at signup and again before anyone can post on Network.
- Customer and business signup require a valid date of birth. Ages under 13 are rejected.
- Once a date of birth is on file, the account holder cannot change it in settings.
- People 13–17 must confirm their age before they can publish on Network.
2. Teen privacy defaults
We do not ask a teenager to hunt for a privacy setting. When we know someone is under 18, their Network profile starts closed.
- Profile visibility defaults to private.
- The profile is not searchable and is not suggested to other people.
- Teen accounts are kept off public leaderboards.
3. No advertising to people under 18
Personalized Network ads are not shown to anyone we know is under 18. This is a hard rule, not a toggle in settings.
- Sponsored and personalized feed ads are withheld for under-18 accounts.
- There is no “allow ads” preference for minors. Adults who complete age review are treated as adults.
4. Messaging limits
Direct messages are restricted for teens so a stranger cannot open a private chat.
- If either person is 13–17, they can only message after both have accepted a connection.
- Anyone can block another person. Blocked people cannot message each other.
- Posts, comments, messages, and ads can be reported from the product. Repeated reports hold the content for staff.
5. What happens under 13
If we learn an account belongs to someone under 13 — at signup, from a later date of birth, or from staff — we freeze it across the platform automatically.
- The Network profile, posts, and chats are hidden from other people. Social features are blocked until the case is resolved.
- Marketplace checkout is blocked and open carts, favorites, and watches are cleared.
- Sign-in stays available on purpose, so the person (or a parent) can request an age review. The account is not left open for shopping or posting.
6. Age review
If a freeze is a mistake, the account holder can request a review with a government ID photo and a selfie. A person on our staff decides — not an automated score.
- Only FCE staff review ID and selfie evidence.
- Those photos are deleted as soon as the decision is made. They are not posted and are not kept as a library.
- An approved review restores the account as a verified adult and lifts the marketplace freeze.
7. Content moderation
We combine automated checks with human review for content the server can see. Public posts, marketplace listings, and uploaded media are scanned. Private direct messages are end-to-end encrypted, so FCE cannot read those bodies on the server — protection there runs on the device, plus reports and metadata.
- High-severity text on posts and other server-visible surfaces, including sexual content involving minors, is blocked at publish time.
- Photos — including those uploaded through the media pipeline — are checked with automated image review before they stay public.
- Higher-risk posts and items with enough member reports are held for staff before they stay public.
- Staff review held content, member reports, and age reviews in the same admin queue. Encrypted DMs are not server-scanned; teens still need an accepted connection, and anyone can block or report.
- On supported devices, the app can warn about sensitive content in private messages without sending those messages to FCE.
8. Guardian report channel
A parent or guardian does not need an FCE One account to tell us about a concern involving a minor.
- Submit the form. You receive a case number and a private thread you can reply to by email or on the page.
- These reports are treated as urgent. Our first-response target is one hour.
- Start here: Report a child-safety concern.
9. What we keep — and what we delete
We keep the minimum needed to enforce the age floor and to finish a review. We do not build a lasting archive of children’s ID photos.
- Date of birth is used only to enforce age rules. It is not shown on a profile.
- ID and selfie uploads for an age review are deleted after approve or reject.
- Staff can permanently delete a confirmed child account — Network content, commerce records, and the login — when the law requires it.
10. Contact
Email childsafety@fceone.com for child-safety questions. For a tracked case with a one-hour first-response target, use the report form.
File a concern: guardian report form. We do not offer parental-control dashboards or supervised child accounts — FCE One is not for children under 13.
